published on 2022-03-23
Mill Avenue, a street that runs north-south in Tempe, is the hub of all the action in Downtown Tempe. It's where ASU students walk to if they want to get away from campus. It's where tourists and winter visitors wander on a sunny winter day, and it's the home of some of Tempe's coolest condos and townhomes for sale. Still not convinced that you want to live near Mill Avenue? Here are 5 great reasons to move you off the fence:
Bars, restaurants and coffee, all within walking distance.
Mill Avenue has really stepped up its game when it comes to bars, restaurants and coffee shops. Caffeinate at King Coffee, or relax in the outdoor patio with a beer at the Pedal Haus brewery. In addition to plenty of sit-down restaurants, there are numerous grab and go options as well - a tacqueria, an ice cream shop and several pizzerias. When you live near Mill Avenue, all these great little places are a quick walk away!
Tempe festivals and events are at your doorstep
Downtown Tempe has a unique feature no other downtown area in the valley has - A Lake! Tempe Town Lake and the Tempe Beach Park is an ideal event locale and it's where you'll find the boat parade, music festivals and more. There is no end to activities and events in this enviable environment. Want to live next to the lake? Consider the condos at 525 Town Lake for proximity to both the water and to Mill Ave.
Mill Ave stands on its own for events, which include a giant New Year's Eve block party, the Rock and Roll Marathon, and a spring arts festival.
The Light Rail makes a Downtown Phoenix commute a breeze
The light rail stop is at Third Street and Mill, a short walk away for residents at Hayden Square condos. The airport or Downtown Phoenix is easy to get to from this convenient Location. The light rail also heads east to Mesa.
Of Course, you're right next to ASU.
Sure, your kid could always live in an apartment while they go to school, but then you'll miss out on building equity while you're writing those tuition checks (considering letting them in on a little bit of the equity and you'll get some more interest from them). But forget your kid for a moment, and imagine living near ASU yourself - to take advantage of some courses at ASU's Lifelong Learning Institute, enjoy a play at Gammage, or become a real ASU Sun Devil sports fan. And imagine telling your friends that you're doing all that AND living in the area's most interesting loft building - Lofts at Orchidhouse.
They aren't making land in downtown Tempe any more!
The ideal location of Mill Street in Downtown Tempe will continue to draw people that want to live near this street and landmarks around it. But there is little land left to build on around here and any new residential units will be built as infill projects. This means that in most market conditions, condo and townhomes here will continue to be in demand.
